WHAT
EXACTLY IS A FERRARI® PRECONTRAINT
COATED FABRIC?
a woven base cloth of high-tenacity
polyester threads,
a coating
with the fabric under constant
tension in both the warp and
weft directions throughout
the manufacturing process
(diagram below),
a
layer of high-performance
surface polymers, thicker
over the surface of the yarns,
a
dirt-resistant surface treatment.
EXCLUSIVE
FEATURES OF
FERRARI®
PRECONTRAINT :
EXCEPTIONAL
DIMENSIONAL STABILITY
Ferrari®
Precontraint technology ensures
exceptional dimensional stability
for fabrics, almost identical in
warp and in weft. Elongation resistance
in the weft direction is greater
than with traditional coated textiles.
This exclusive feature is very important
when setting the tension of textiles.
Precontraint®
textiles perform with an outstanding
stability when tensioned,
thanks to a very limited sinusoid
effect in the weft direction.
Conventional
coated textiles exhibit a
high degree of sinusoid effect
in the weft direction.
THREADS
ARE COMPLETELY STRAIGHT
Ferrari®
Precontraint technology biaxial tension
ensures strict control of the weft yarn,
so yarns are completely straight.
The
Precontraint®
textiles benefit from a weft yarn
direction which remains identical
from one batch to the other.
Conventional
coated textiles exhibit serious
deformation of weft yarn which in
addition vary greatly from one batch
to the other.
The stability
and regularity of the yarn textiles
direction demonstrated by the
Precontraint Ferrari®
result in 3 times less elongation
in the weft direction than conventional
fabrics.
Elongation
in the weft direction under
a 200 daN/m load over a
period of 100 hours.
Then residual elongation
without load.

GREATER COATING THICKNESS …

Traditional
coated textiles 650

The
Ferrari Precontraint®
technique ensures a lighter weight
fabric and also a greater thickness
over the yarns. This technique provides
a greater ease of handling and a
longer life due to the added yarn
protection from UV and other adverse
environmental conditions.
…
FOR AN OUTSTANDING LONGEVITY
The
durability of coated fabrics very
much depends on the thickness
of the coating layer at the top
of the yarns. Precontraint®
membranes have a substantially
increased life time thanks to
the “useful” protective
layer, the life span key to success
for your projects.
